Environment Achievers National
The Grade 2 and 3 learners made their own rain gauges as part of a science experiment. The learners need to gather the data by taking daily readings and record the amount of rain per millimeter that has fallen. The young students are very excited to compare their findings and results. Lessons like these are especially valuable as we are all aware of the terrible drought in the Western Cape this past year, where water capacity is currently sitting at 27% and the last 10% of a dam's water is difficult to use, which means the water capacity in effect is decreased by 10%.
